Excellent manual switchbox June 16, 2010

I ordered this switchbox to switch my PC vga output between a 17" monitor and a 32" LCD TV display. I have used several electronic switches in the past and they all failed after a short period of time. So, this time I decided to go manual. I am very pleased with the product and the excellent service I received from the vendor.

I bought this switch to output video from my Windows 7 PC to a flat screen HP CRT or to my Sony Bravia LCD TV. The pictures displays well in both but here is the catch. On my Bravia the dimensions of the picture match typical VGA dimensions. Without the switch in the line, the computer detects that the Bravia is a Sony TV and goes to wide screen and the picture looks even better.
After much research I realized that the switch does not appear to be relaying the plug and play signals (DDC signals) between the monitor and the computer. In fact, when I go into the configuration for the monitor in the computer the computer sees the TV as a non plug and play vga monitor. It also sees my CRT the same way through the switch. If I take the switch out of the line, the computer correctly identifies the CRT as the correct HP monitor. Now I do have one extra cable in the line between the computer and the switch, when the switch is connected. So, at this point I could be incorrectly blaming the switch. However, I doubt the cable could be blocking the pnp signal since it has all 15 pins. Unfortunately, I do not have another cable to swap in.
I did open the switch box to see what was happening in there, and it looks like all they have in there is a mechanical switch and a bunch of wires. No circuit boards, so I don't see how that switch would not simple relay the pnp signals. However, it is difficult to see if all the pins are actually relayed through.
There are other products that say they support DDC, but they are much more expensive. I can't understand why the switches aren't simply pin to pin, and why there needs to be any logic at all happening in them.

If you want a switch, then, don't buy this, because it product terrible output pictures,tons of shaking. What is the point if a switch does not product the same picture to start with? It creates a problem by solving one. I hate product like this.
