Product Description NF NOTEBOOK LIFT STAND

| Customer Reviews: Adequate for a 15 inch laptop July 14, 2010 J. Stephen Hendricks (Sammamish, Wa USA) Purchased this stand for my wife's new Dell Studio 15 laptop. She's picky about placement and is trying to adjust to a larger screen with more real estate but smaller fonts.
The stand works relatively well. The vertical adjustment (up to six inches, more than most of its competitors),the extendable holder on the front edge, and the fore/aft tilt feature of the platform allows her to find the sweet spot for placing her laptop without straining either her eyes or her shoulders. A plus I didn't anticipate is that her wireless ergonomic keyboard (Microsoft) slides over the front feet, enabling her to move the keyboard out of the way easily when she needs to do so.
On the negative side, the "Y" shaped base suffers a bit from a three-leg stool problem in terms of stability. That problem is magnified somewhat by the wheels under the front feet (allowing for swiveling the entire apparatus.) I suspect that with a smaller laptop (e.g. 13 inch) or a non-wide screen model, the problem would not be as noticeable. The entire setup is relatively stable on her desk, but I would not put it in a location where it's likely to be subjected to being knocked around. Nor would I trust it for a 17-18 inch laptop. The stand is rated for over 15 lbs of weight, but the 15 inch laptop extends several inches on either side and a wider computer would be problematic. Needless to say, it would not be suitable as a stand for a monitor.
Though it does not include a cooling fan, the vents in the platform combined with the oversize battery on the Dell computer appears to provide sufficient cooling. Though my wife's computer does not include a full-fledged docking station, the stand does provide for inclusion of one mounted on the back edge of the base mounted with included velcro strips.
All in all, it's a good design and relatively sturdy. It sells for $20 to $30 less than the competitors I looked at and I'd recommend it with the qualifications noted above.
Excellent product June 2, 2009 J. Curtis (Minnesota) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have a Ergotron Neo-Flex Notebook and projector display at work and that works great. This is the same product with only one difference, the Notebook/projector version you can make wider or narrow it whereas this is just a flat platform. For the $30 difference, this was perfect for home. I have a T60p laptop with a docking station for it, this comes with valcro strips you put on the lift stand and on the bottom of the docking station and they are stationary then. I have a separate keyboard, trackball, and large monitor and I just put the laptop on the docking station, power up, and I have instant dual screens. I do web design and development so it works great for coding having the dual screens.
No troubles with the lift stand, you can tighten the adjustment screw so the tension is tight enough that the laptop will stay stationary while open and tilted to the same height as my display. Plus under the front legs of the lift stand, there are wheels angled inward so you can pivot the display towards you or away easily.
Excellent product and well built.
