Customer Reviews: Simple and easy to use. June 26, 2010 Michael Craig (Oklahoma City, OK) It worked right out of the box, no fiddling required. I have a Tacx bicycle trainer with virtual reality training DVD's. I wanted to connect my laptop computer to my 58" TV. This and a 25 foot S-Video cable worked. I use the EV639-3 in the over scan position and the picture fills my big screen with just a little excess.
Just Works June 16, 2010 M. Fox (Madison, WI) Built my HTPC before I had a flat screen to drive with it so bought this to continue to use my analog TV in the meantime. I looked at a bunch of cheap scan converters for $20-40 with all those configuration buttons and complaints about quality. This one works out of the box without any configuration, poof you have a clear computer output on your TV.
A little clipping on the outer edges of the bezel, but that is to be expected and there is an underscan option to minimize that. For Hulu and DVDs though it is not an issue and the TV output is flawless. I think it looks better than the digital tv converter box I have hooked up to it.
Also consider svideo.com's PC2TV converter March 22, 2010 Nelson G. 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
My new laptop did not have the svideo port that my older TV uses. Solution: Use the laptop's VGA port and connect to a VGA to S-Video converter. Almost bought the Startech but the price and features cause me to look further. Bought the full-featured PC2TV converter at [...]. Just go to their web site and search for VGA converters or go to: [...]
The PC2TV adapter produces a sharp picture at resolutions up to 1600x1200, has outputs for s-video and just about all the other formats, includes ALL the cables, has a bunch of adjustments that can be saved, a remote control, and great support (I contacted them and got a quick, helpful reply). All this for a lot less than the Startech.
Works great with Serato VSL March 17, 2010 K. Korpos (Boston) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I never write reviews - but I guess it is never too late to start. I purchased this to use with my new Macbook 17" notebook and Serato Video SL. I needed to convert the digital feed from the computer to analog. This little convertor is great and easy to use - I convert to either RCA or S-video with no problems.
Easy to set up and use and very compact November 7, 2009 Angela Fitz-Gerald (Bay Area, CA, USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
It's very simple to set up and use, and it works fine. With this device, we are able to connect a PC laptop to a 10-year old TV monitor and watch as many FREE streaming Netflix movies on our TV screen as we want.
