3 out of 5 stars Legacy Amp   August 9, 2010
Samuel Aldrich (Yokota AB, JP)
The amp produces a decent amount of power (no where near the amount specified: 1100 Watts but I expected that considering the price and brand) but the construction is pretty poor. I have never had an amplifier that actually vibrates as bad as this one. I have tightened down everything possible and the chrome metal covers still vibrate.

Buy if you want a cheap amp for 1 sub but don't push it much past that or you will be disappointed.

Not to bad.. it is not a class D amp like it says book says A/B class

5 out of 5 stars Class-D mono-block amp... at a great freaking price!   June 22, 2010
Brian T. Clem (Orlando, FL)
I needed an amp to power my Alpine Type-R 12" DVC sub. This was the cheapest mono-block Class-D amp I could find with free shipping and in the ballpark for what I wanted regarding power. Now it is pushing the 12" at 2ohms and things are great here. Just what I needed at a great, low price. Sometimes you really DO NOT have to spend a bunch of money to get your need filled.

I would buy another one when I would need it.

I want to try to run a 1ohm load. I bet this amp can do it fine even though they only say 2ohm. Good cheap amp that works well.

5 out of 5 stars Amazing!!!   June 14, 2010

This thing is awesome! I have it hooked up to an 800w boss 12" subwoofer and this thing powers it completely plus some! The low pass filter works wonderfully and my sound system now sounds amazing and shakes my Chevrolet Blazer. Also it's pretty small for how much power it puts out, making it easy to put wherever you want. This is a must have! Highly recommended!

5 out of 5 stars Very impressive amp for the cash!   April 15, 2010

I feed this amp with a cheap pyramid electronic crossover which can easily quadruple the amps output. Since it's class D, you can get away with the hot signal without pushing the circuit into overload and the safety shutting it down.
It's feeding a cheap, pyramid PW1286X high performance woofer. 4 Ohms, 500 watts RMS with a cone that feels bullet proof and an incredible excursion range. This woofer is mounted in a VERY tiny truck style wedge box, probably .25 cubic feet, sealed design and stuffed with poly batting.

It rumbles and slams beyond what you would ever expect.
Without the additional crossover, you get some really rich, punch and rumble but with it, it's beyond over the top. Until I build a new box, I don't run this team beyond 25% which might not be obnoxiously loud outside the car but inside it's beyond what's necessary.

Do's and Don'ts

Do's:
Add an electronic crossover
Run on a 4 ohm load
Consider a cooling fan
Use the built in bass boost combined with your crossover's booster

Don'ts:
Do not drive it into 2 ohms, I fried a woofer that has otherwise survived 10 years of extreme demands including a house fire and a week submerged under water.
Do not use a tiny box like I am, odds are you'll blow the woofer and blame the manufacturer.
Don't bother with the built in low pass filter, you're simply stealing dB's, you can still use the crossover frequency control, bass boost engagement and the preamp crossover is giving more than enough filtering.

The other reviewer is unimpressed likely because he/she isn't using a crossover and, is using a bandpass box. Bandpass boxes are designed specifically for hatchbacks. Toss one in the trunk of your car and you lose easily 50% of volume/rumble. I'll upgrade to at least a 1 cubic foot, sealed box made out of hardwood instead of MDF then stuff it till it's bursting at the seems with poly fill, AKA, 2-3 cheap pillows ripped open and stuffed in the box.
That will easily deliver 130+dB's and squash systems running multiple woofers with higher wattage rated amps.
Why such a claim?
Because it's class D, the watts are not simply better quality but you can push the amp to generate more wattage by feeding it a hotter signal and it won't overheat do to class D power switching.
